As many of those who have been watching me since before december know... what a terrible sentence. I'll start again.
If you've been watching me since before December you'd know that recently I've been having my 15 minutes of dA fame. Before I submitted that Mr Blank Stare animation I had a bit over 4000 pageviews and if you look now there are well over 8000. So you can see that my message centre has had quite a workout over the past few weeks! I'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has visited my page and given me feedback on my work and for all the favourites
The day after submitted Mr Blank Stare I was getting about 3-4 favourites every minute for a while (it's now dropped off to about 3-4 every day) and while thanking those who favourited it I had the chance to visit many great galleries and make lots of new friends here.
It was kinda strange considering I've been here submitting photos for months then I submit one animation and it becomes the 21st most popular flash thing ever on dA within a few days
Then a couple of weeks later my message centre again had a big influx when I got a Daily Deviation (thankyou djana and cafezero !). I think that was even better because I was being recognised for my photography and got the opportunity to see a lot of great photographic galleries. Many of these galleries were hardly getting any attention but I didn't have much time to comment on things so I ended up having to just watch a lot of people.
Seeing all these underrated galleries I felt like I wanted to help others gain some recognition. It just so happened that timtam and UniPT were starting a group called da-unreleased whose aim is to do just that. So I've signed on as an admin there
Thankyou again everyone who has visited my page and has appreciated my work!

Just a quick update to say thanks to my friends, watchers and random commenters on here for the support, encouragement and feedback on my work. Apparently people have looked at this humble page over 100,000 times now, so thanks to you lurkers too :)
It’s quite a milestone. I remember when I first signed up back in 2004, I was interested in photography but wasn’t particularly good. I still have a lot of my old work in my scraps if you're interested. But from the feedback and inspiration I found on here, I was able to quickly develop and hone my talent to become the 100,000-pageview-receiveing photographer you see (read) before you
GIMP video tutorials
If you’ve been keeping up with my site, you should know I’ve posted a couple of GIMP video tutorials recently. One was inspired by Tordo (https://www.deviantart.com/tordo)'s work Unexpectedly where I recreated the patterned sky effect in GIMP (then the next night I showed how to do the same thing in photoshop... it's on the same page).
Then the other night I recreated my most popular Youtube tutorial (+40k views on there :O) on getting vintage colours in Photoshop (in that post i also explain how and why it works).
So now you can get vintage colours in GIMP too. I remade it entirely in Ubuntu (no going back to windows for editing this time) and it’s av
NYC
I'm back from NYC. What an awesome place 8-)
Got 265 photos that I like. Put them on Flickr here: http://flickr.com/photos/lukeroberts/sets/72157604145621082/
But if you don't have half an hour to look through them, I've picked out my favourite 18 which you can see here: http://flickr.com/photos/lukeroberts/sets/72157604150662593/
Also, just put a new tutorial on my site, about applying a macro lens effect digitally with Photoshop.

lukeroberts.us
I finally got around to making myself a proper website. I decided to go the blog/wordpress route for ease of updating and themeability. It’s been going for a few days now, and so far has been updated every day :O
http://lukeroberts.us – not really any reason for the .us extension. It was just available and looks kinda nice. Saves one keystroke too.
Not sure how long I could keep updating it every day, especially since I’m going to New York City next week 8-) Just going for a week for a bit of a holiday. Should be good – hopefully many photos will follow.
Oh I'm in London now, in case people haven't noticed.

Views and favs can hit the deviation you'd expect to become so popular least. My featured deviation, the one I'm really proud of has 5 times less views than a piece I did and submitted out of - not exactly boredom but it's nothing I'd value that high. Anyway: Mr Blank Stare rules!
