Deviation Actions
I changed my Featured Deviation It's been the Underdog for so long, I can't remember having it as anything else. So it was time for a change. I think I'll feature more of my older photos there, since most people don't have time to look through an entire gallery. I might update them and make them prints as I go.
I would have made this hug one a print but the computer it's on isn't available. It got a virus or something on it and was running pretty bad anyway, so we're clearing everything not needed off it and reinstalling Windows. My brother is doing it so hopefully all my photos and junk will still be there
Realisation
Also, etc-etc-etc has lead me to realise that I'm too much of a perfectionist with my art. I seem to only submit the photos that I'm completely happy with. Which is fine. Nothing wrong with that, but I also only submit things that I think people will like. And I'm particularly bad at knowing what people will like (I almost didn't submit the Mr Blank Stare animation), so I stick mostly to what I know people will like - my photography.
So I guess I should be less inhibited (or more uninhibited ) in what I submit. Not that I'll start submitting terrible photos or random oekaki stuff, but I just need to stop worring if people will like it or not - as long as I'm happy with it.
Does that make sense?

Just a quick update to say thanks to my friends, watchers and random commenters on here for the support, encouragement and feedback on my work. Apparently people have looked at this humble page over 100,000 times now, so thanks to you lurkers too :)
It’s quite a milestone. I remember when I first signed up back in 2004, I was interested in photography but wasn’t particularly good. I still have a lot of my old work in my scraps if you're interested. But from the feedback and inspiration I found on here, I was able to quickly develop and hone my talent to become the 100,000-pageview-receiveing photographer you see (read) before you
GIMP video tutorials
If you’ve been keeping up with my site, you should know I’ve posted a couple of GIMP video tutorials recently. One was inspired by Tordo (https://www.deviantart.com/tordo)'s work Unexpectedly where I recreated the patterned sky effect in GIMP (then the next night I showed how to do the same thing in photoshop... it's on the same page).
Then the other night I recreated my most popular Youtube tutorial (+40k views on there :O) on getting vintage colours in Photoshop (in that post i also explain how and why it works).
So now you can get vintage colours in GIMP too. I remade it entirely in Ubuntu (no going back to windows for editing this time) and it’s av
NYC
I'm back from NYC. What an awesome place 8-)
Got 265 photos that I like. Put them on Flickr here: http://flickr.com/photos/lukeroberts/sets/72157604145621082/
But if you don't have half an hour to look through them, I've picked out my favourite 18 which you can see here: http://flickr.com/photos/lukeroberts/sets/72157604150662593/
Also, just put a new tutorial on my site, about applying a macro lens effect digitally with Photoshop.

lukeroberts.us
I finally got around to making myself a proper website. I decided to go the blog/wordpress route for ease of updating and themeability. It’s been going for a few days now, and so far has been updated every day :O
http://lukeroberts.us – not really any reason for the .us extension. It was just available and looks kinda nice. Saves one keystroke too.
Not sure how long I could keep updating it every day, especially since I’m going to New York City next week 8-) Just going for a week for a bit of a holiday. Should be good – hopefully many photos will follow.
Oh I'm in London now, in case people haven't noticed.

This may seem like a bonkers question, but what on earth does the little semi-colon before your name mean? Suddenly half my watchers have gained them and I can't find what they're for... *is stupid*
