OnetoThree by lukeroberts OnetoThree by lukeroberts
Ive been using the free, open source 3D program Blender for a few months now and this is the first thing Im willing to show on here :P

Based (quite heavily) on the lovely photo I Choose You by ~Onetothree. I wanted to get a similar look and composition to it but I wasnt really trying to make it a 100% accurate copy.

I used a beta version of Blender 2.43 which has the new Defocus node for creating the delicious bokeh  The only post-processing I did in photoshop was adding a bit of grain (and border + resize).

Thanks to ~Onetothree for allowing me to submit this, since it is her composition, idea, etc

Not a photo, no. It's a 3D rendered image

It's hard to explain what bokeh is, so i'll steal the wikipedia explaination:

Bokeh (from the Japanese boke, "blur") is a photographic term referring to out-of-focus (OOF) areas in a photographic image. While this is an aggregate phenomenon and no evidence of formal definition, quantitative, or qualitative framework has been provided, some continue to link this vague, subjectively described quality to various lenses where no obvious consistent link has been demonstrated. Unfocused background or foreground is both an inevitability in many photographic situations, and a frequently-used artistic device, for example as an attempt to reduce distractions, and emphasise the subject.

It's that a 3D work? :wow: I really thought it was a picture! Well done, the blur of the bokeh effect and the subtle grain makes it pretty realistic.

What!?!?! I thought it was a photo!?!?

Well awesome colour choices, you should sharpen up that big focused button though, would improve this 100%

Last year I had a multimedia course in which we had to use Blender as well. It's a pity we never got to explore it down to the core, there were many more things we just didn't get the time to use/learn/see. The prog's got a lot of potential, though.
Very nice work there :)

It looks so cool! :boogie: I've always wanted to get into 3D stuff but ... never got around to it. Everything just seems so foreign...

Anyway, great job -- I quite like how photorealistic it is. :)

i actually started out doing 3D stuff before i had any interest in photography. Then, a few things happened and i didn't do any 3D stuff for about 5 years. So it's fun to get back to it :D

Thanks for the feedback too :)
