I know this is very grainy but i think it adds to the effect. It was a rainy day and i saw this lady coming down the street with an unbrella and wondered what would make a good background.

I framed up this house in the background and got her in the shot but on the computer i realised it would look a lot better if it was just her and the fence. So i cropped it and made it black and white... i think the grain could look like rain... maybe... :)

A wonderful play on words :woot: and it is absolutely a great photo. Sure, maybe i could wish it was sharper and had more natural, not digital grain, but what the heck - this one give me a real kick :) Plus a smile on my face, reminding me the works of Cartier-Bresson. The way you cropped it is really perfect. Great balance, great composition. I love it! :+fav:

Cartier-Bresson :wow: Thankyou! He was the master of those kind of shots. Thankyou for the compliment :D Glad you like the photo!

Compliment well deserved. I really like that shot... And i definitely recommend to you taking a look at the B&W magazine ;) Ok, not trying to really advertise it - it's overly expensive here in Poland, but recently actually, there was an article on Cartier-Bresson with photos. Plus, it's an amazing piece of a printed magazine - only with black and silver ink.

The grain seems to make it one of those classic-style old photographs, it has that theme to it and it's very beautiful. Good idea with the cropping, it's a very interesting image like this. The mood also seems kind of despondent, particularly because of this woman, however old she is, she looks aged, and the picture looks aged and the black and white as well as the grain seem to actually emphasize this. It's... almost nostalgic and lonely.

Awesome shot, another :+fav:

Good shot! It is weird though how such a slight difference in the angle of the pavement can make the lady look as though she is actually walking *down* the street even though the top is perfectly horizontal. Just makes you even more paranoid about getting things right if you're aiming for angular perfection. But having said that, I don't think it harms this picture at all!
